A weapon of unimaginable power. A desperate mission to the center of the galaxy. Mankind’s fate hangs in the balance.

Captain Thomas Holbrook has wondered how he would brave being sent on a one-way mission. When he receives cryptic orders to divert his CentCom warship to the black hole at the center of the galaxy, a region from which no vessel has ever returned, he stubbornly refuses to take them at face value.

It’s the year 2330. The “aughts,” robots that won independence from their human creators, seek insurance against the ever-present human threat. An aught ship speeds to the galactic center to collect Planck Matter, a substance formed in the heart of black holes, the basis of a weapon that could destroy the Earth.

CentCom can’t allow the aughts to obtain Planck Matter. They enlist the help of Dr. Rebekah Riesen, a brilliant, beautiful, reincarnated physicist with her own reasons for joining a mission that might not return, and Tentek, an aught informant whom Holbrook’s executive officer insists is a double agent. Together, they must travel to the galactic center while keeping a mutinous crew at bay, stop the aughts from obtaining Planck Matter, and somehow find a way back home.

How To See a Man About a Dog: Collected Writings

149 pages

Goodreads | Amazon

How To See A Man About A Dog is a collection of experimental short stories, powerful poems, and pulp fiction prose that will take you on a wild, hilarious, and heartbreaking journey. Surrealist short stories, memoiristic poems, and haunting jokes guide you through the wild imagination of emerging writer Samuel Knox’s mind.

“In the light of the moon, a stack of diet pancakes glisten on the dining room table. ‘Steven!’ The kitchen erupted! ‘It is five past your 3 AM Pre-Breakfast Dunch.’ Stephen knew all too well that he was late for his self-imposed good therapy, the latest in in-home, trans-fat free therapy.” – Holy Cannoli, How To See A Man About A Dog

For the reader looking for a wholly original and experimental mixed-media approach to stories, How To See A Man About A Dog is a much-needed fever dream tour-de-force.

“One size fits all never fits me. Hell, what a size. I supposed, sometime once in my early childhood, that it was all a curse.” – My Girl Lately, How To See A Man About A Dog

How To See A Man About A Dog is a kaleidoscopic collage made of equal parts delight and despair. Samuel Knox blends sci-fi, horror, fantasy, and non-fiction into a single enrapturing vision of what it means to be human in the modern age. With over 100 pages of frenetic yet layered experimental fiction, every reader will surely find something to latch onto and enjoy.

Author Bio:
Samuel Knox is an internationally-selling author, blogger, and father of two. He’s worked as a ghostwriter for several years with pieces featured in The Huffington Post, Forbes, and Business Insider. His debut work of fiction, How to See a Man About a Dog compiles over eleven years of writing in the hopes of bringing light to the darkest corners of modern life.

An avid dark comedy and literature fan, he enjoys experimenting with media and supporting other artists. As a founding member of the experimental art collective The Post Art Collective, he’s always looking for opportunities to propel fellow authors and artists headlong into success.

A special note about the book
This book, at its core, is about mental health. Recovering from trauma is a journey with twists, turns, and abrupt endings. A lot of the time, recovery means questioning the various “narrators” we encounter. Other times it means remembering those who didn’t get to finish their story. The author believes that absurdism is the closest approximation to the truth that art has to offer and the best way to understand and process the most difficult journeys in life. When we can laugh at it, then we can truly conquer the hardest truths.

The fae are on the brink of war.
It’s been nearly a year since the Battle of Tearmann. With their last legitimate trade routes cut off, the fae increasingly rely on the Corps away teams to get essential supplies. Owen Williams, now a Corps member, has spent the last ten months running the border to get the haven what it needs to survive. But his last mission nearly killed him and his decision to join the corps threatened his fragile relationship with his family—a relationship that was already stressed to the breaking point by his son’s death.

But after Percill, a battleborn vampire, reveals the location of a group of the fae captives, the corps leadership makes it clear that there isn’t much they won’t do to rescue them. When Percill refuses to say more without a guarantee that Owen will be on the team that rescues them, Owen agrees even though going on this mission could shatter what’s left of his family.

Success means he gets to retire a hero and go home to his family. However, failure wouldn’t just risk the captives, but could end with him held alongside them and separated from his family forever.

Author Bio:
Ceril N Domace is an accountant, the owner of a cat with more zooms than brain cells, and a dedicated dungeon master.

As a lover of fiction works great and small, Ceril has been reading age-inappropriate stories since her father failed to pull The Silmarillion from her grubby little fingers at age five. As a grown-up accountant, her spreadsheet compiling gives her plenty of time to make plans for a fantastic world that isn’t plagued by balance sheets . . . and also has dragons.

On the rare occasions she manages to free herself from an ever-growing and complex web of TTRPG, Ceril enjoys taking walks and griping that all her hobbies are work in disguise.

Dolly Considine runs a late-night drinking establishment catering to the needs of thirsty politicians and theatricals in Dublin’s legendary drinking area, the Catacombs.

Julian Ryder (aka Paddy Butler) is an eighteen-year-old aspiring writer in need of shelter from his bullying older brother.

As the new live-in lounge assistant at Dolly Considine’s Hotel, Julian soon embroils himself in the shebeen’s gossip – and the guests’ bedsheets – and turns Dolly’s entourage into fodder for his literary ambitions. Reality quickly becomes difficult to separate from fantasy…

Set against the run-up to the Pro-life Constitutional Amendment of September 1983 and moving fluidly between the 1950s of Dolly’s youth and Julian’s Summer of Unrequited Love, the hotel becomes a stage for farce and tragedy. Between Julian’s fictions, Dolly’s Secrets, and narrow party politics – and featuring a papier-mâché figure of Mother Ireland giving birth and clashing sword-wielding dancers – this rich cocktail threatens to blow them, and even Ireland itself, wide apart.
